19th Asian Games

The 19th Asian Games ended on October 8th with a big closing ceremony at Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre stadium, China. India made history by winning over 100 medals for the first time, with a total of 107 medals, including 28 gold, 38 silver, and 41 bronze.

 

India secured the most medals in Archery, Cricket, Kabbadi, and Hockey. The Indian Cricket teams, both male and female, won the Gold medal in their debut appearance, while the Indian Kabaddi team once again secured the top spot. The Indian men’s Hockey team defeated the previous Asiad champion, Japan, in the finals, and the women’s team won the silver medal.

 

In athletics, Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Kumar Jena secured the first and second positions in the Javelin throw event, making India proud once again. On the squash courts, Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Sandhu made history by winning the first-ever mixed doubles gold in Asian Games history. Additionally, India won its first equestrian gold in 41 years.

 

India athletes performed amazingly in the 19th Asian Games. This event was a big success for our country. It has encouraged young people in India to play sports and do well in the next Asian Games, which Japan will host in 2026.
