2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup

The FIFA Women’s World Cup takes place once every four years. It is one of the most awaited international football tournaments in the world.

This year, we saw the 9th edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The championship started on July 20 and came to an end on August 20. For the first time, Australia and New Zealand jointly hosted the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The opening match was played between New Zealand and Norway, where New Zealand emerged victorious. 

32 teams participated in the tournament this year. Previously a total of 24 teams would participate. The 4 teams that made it to the semi-finals included Spain, Sweden, Australia and England. 

The finals of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 took place on August 20, 2023, at Sydney Olympic Stadium in Australia, between Spain and England. Spain emerged victorious against England 1-0 in the final match. This was not only Spain’s first title win but also the first European nation to win since 2007.
