37th National Games Opening Ceremony

The 37th National Games was officially launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 26th October 2023 in Panaji, Goa. The opening ceremony took place in the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao. 

PM Narendra Modi was welcomed by the Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant. A cultural program was arranged for the crowd. A torch was presented to PM Modi at the beginning of the event. 

The National Games first took place 99 years ago in 1924. It is the first time that Goa is hosting the Games. The Games will take place from October 26 to November 9. Some new sports such as beach football, golf and roll ball etc will become a part of the games this year. 

Players from all over India will take part in the National Games. With 43 different sports categories, the 37th edition of the National Games is believed to be the largest ever in history.
