69th National Film Awards

69th National Film Awards 

The 69th National Film Awards took place at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, on 17th October. The winners, whose names were announced earlier in September, were given the awards by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.

Actress Alia Bhatt won the award for Best Actress for her role in the movie “Gangubai Kathiyawadi” and Kriti Sanon won the same award for her movie “Mimi”. Actor Allu Arjun became the first Telugu actor to win the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in the movie “Pushpa: The Rise.”

The movie “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,” directed by R. Madhavan was given the award for best feature film. Actress Waheeda Rahman was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award. 

“RRR” won the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Pankaj Tripathi won the Best Supporting Actor award for “Mimi” and Pallavi Joshi won the Best Supporting Actress award for “The Kashmir Files.”

 The National Film Awards were started in 1954 and were known by the name of “State Awards.” Since its start, the National Awards have come a long way. Over the years the number of awards has increased. The awards are given in three sections: Features, Non-Features and Best Writing on Cinema.
