69th National Film Awards

69th National Film Awards 

The 69th National Film Awards took place at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, on 17th October. The winners, whose names were announced earlier in September, were given the awards by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.

Actress Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon won the award for Best Actress for their roles in the movies “Gangubai Kathiyawadi” and “Mimi” respectively. Actor Allu Arjun became the first Telugu actor to receive the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in the movie “Pushpa: The Rise.”

The movie “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,” directed by R. Madhavan was given the award for best feature film. Veteran actress Waheeda Rahman was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award.

  • Best Supporting Actor: Pankaj Tripathi, Mimi
  • Best Supporting Actress: Pallavi Joshi, The Kashmir Files
  • Best Child Artist: Bhavin Rabari, Chhello Show
  • Best Screenplay (Original): Shahi Kabir, Nayattu
  • Best Screenplay (Adapted): Sanjay Leela Bhansali & Utkarshini Vashishtha, Gangubai Kathiawadi
  • Best Male Playback Singer: Kaala Bhairava, RRR
  • Best Female Playback Singer: Shreya Ghoshal, Iravin Nizhal
  • Best Lyrics: Chandrabose, Konda Polam’s Dham Dham Dham
  • Best Hindi Film: Sardar Udham
  • Best Kannada Film: 777 Charlie
  • Best Malayalam Film: Home
  • Best Gujarati Film: Chhello Show
  • Best Tamil Film: Kadaisi Vivasayi
  • Best Telugu Film: Uppena

The National Film Awards were started in 1954 and were known by the name of “State Awards.” Since its start, the National Awards have come a long way. Over the years the number of awards has increased. The awards are given in three sections: Features, Non-Features and Best Writing on Cinema.
