86 Years Ago Snow White Was Released for the First Time

On December 21, 1937, an animator named Walt Disney created history by releasing the first full-length animated movie. An animated has cartoon characters in it. It was titled “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” This film was first shown in a theatre in California. It quickly became a fan-favourite movie. Even after 86 years, the movie continues to capture the hearts of millions.

The film is based on a German fairytale written by the Grimm Brothers. It tells the story of a young princess named Snow White, who was sent away from her town by her wicked stepmother. Along her journey, she meets seven dwarfs and becomes friends with them. The movie ends with a ‘happily ever after’ moment as the young princess is saved by the first Disney prince named Prince Florian.

In 1939, Walt Disney was honoured with an Oscar for this cinematic masterpiece. Oscar is one of the most important awards a movie can win! A special Oscar statue with seven other smaller statues was made to represent Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. To this day, the movie holds a significant place in the history of Hollywood and every movie industry, as it paved the way for animated movies.
