Armed Forces Flag Day 2023

Armed Forces Flag Day

Every year on 7th December, we celebrate Armed Forces Flag Day in India to pay respect to the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers. On this day, we honour the great martyrs and soldiers who fought valiantly to safeguard our country. Celebrated with profound respect and dignity, Armed Forces Flag Day also serves as a reminder of the families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty. On this day, people are encouraged to actively participate by buying flags, cards, coupons, and other items. The money earned from all this goes to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF), which is used to support the families of armed forces. This fund also assists the ex-servicemen who were injured while in service.

On 28th August 1949, The Indian Ministry of Defense announced 7th December as the Armed Forces Flag Day to remember all the people who served in the Army, Navy and Air Force. This significant day provides an opportunity for every citizen of India to express their gratitude for the courage and dedication showcased by the armed forces.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to the social media platform X to show his respect to the men and women of the Indian armed forces. “Today, on Armed Forces Flag Day, we honour the courage, commitment and sacrifices of our brave soldiers. Their dedication to protecting our nation is unparalleled,” PM Modi wrote on X. In an event organised in New Delhi to celebrate this day, PM Modi received a badge from Secretary of Kendriya Sainik Board Commodore HP Singh.
