Army Day 2024

Every year on 15th January, we celebrate a special day called National Army Day. On this day in 1949, the Indian Army came under the leadership of an Indian officer. General K.M. Cariappa took the Indian Army, replacing General Sir Francis Roy Bucher. This symbolised the beginning of India’s true freedom from British rule. To celebrate this huge victory, the Indian Government declared 15th January as the National Army Day.

In 2024, Lucknow will host its first Army Day parade. This will be the second time the parade has taken place outside of Delhi since independence. The Indian Air Force will also be part of the parade. Many programs such as blood donation campaigns, military band concerts, and tree plantation drives will be celebrated around the day.

The theme of the day in 2024 is “In Service of the Nation.” The theme highlights the bravery and confidence shown by the Indian Army in protecting the people of the nation. This day reminds the people to honour the brave men and women fighting for the protection of our country.
