Asian Athletics Championships 2023 Comes to an End

The 2023 Asian Athletics Championships began on July 12 and ended on July 16, 2023. The championships were held at the Supachalasai National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. This was the 25th edition of the championships. This tournament served as a qualification round for the athletes hoping to participate in the World Athletics Championships 2023, which are to be held in Budapest, Hungary in August 2023. 

A total of 42 countries, including India, participated in the championships. The tournament hosted several sporting events like Men’s and Women’s long jump, pole vault, shot put, high jump, javelin throw, hammer throw, relays, hurdles and more. 

Japan stood first in the championships, winning 37 medals out of which 16 were gold. China took the second spot with 22 medals including 8 gold. The third place was secured by India with 27 medals including 6 gold. India won 13 medals on the final day of the championships.
