Assam’s Bihu Dance Makes Two World Records

On Thursday, April 15, Assam made history when a total of 11,304 dancers came together to perform Bihu at the Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati. The performance was watched by the chief minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, cabinet officials, government officials, and the official adjudicator of the Guinness World Records, Rishi Nath. 

Not only did the Bihu dance make the Guinness World Record for the largest Bihu dance in a single venue, but also broke the previous record for the largest drummer performance in a single venue, which was 1,356. In this mega Bihu performance a total of 2,548 drummers were present. 

On Friday evening, the Guinness World Record certificates were handed over to the chief minister in the presence of Narendra Modi by the official adjudicator of the Guinness World Records, in the same stadium where the performance had taken place.
