Assembly Election Results

The results of the Assembly Elections 2023 held in November in five states of India, namely, Mizoram, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, were announced on December 3.

In Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the most votes.

In Telangana, Congress won over the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) which had been in power for 9 years, since 2014. This became a historic victory for the Congress Party. With this win, Telangana appointed a new Chief Minister on December 7.

The people of Mizoram voted most for the youngest political party of the state, the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM). The political party overthrew the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF). Like Telangana, Mizoram welcomed its new Chief Minister on December 8.

While the new chief ministers of Telangana and Mizoram have been appointed, the other three states have yet to name their new Chief Ministers. Their names will be declared by the end of this week.
