Bharat Ratna Awarded to Five Eminent Indian Personalities in 2024

In 2024, the Government of India announced five Indian leaders as the receivers of the Bharat Ratna Awards. The Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award in India. On Friday, PM Narendra Modi announced that PV Narasimha Rao, Chaudhary Charan Singh, and MS Swaminathan will be awarded this glorious award. Karpoori Thakur and Lal Krishna Advani were also given this award this year. 

Chaudhury Charan Singh served as the fifth prime minister of India in 1979.  PV Narasimha Rao served as the 10th Indian Prime Minster from June 1991 to May 1996. Both of them brought many positive changes to our country. 

MS Swaminathan was an agricultural scientist who was named the”Father of the Green Revolution” in India. Lal Krishna Advani served as India’s 7th deputy prime minister from 2002 to 2004. Karpuri Thakur was the former Chief Minister of Bihar. 

This year, five people received the Bharat Ratna award, which is the highest number awarded in a single year. In 1999, four people were awarded the Bharat Ratna award, which was the highest till date.
