Chandrayaan-3 Successful Moon Landing

Chandrayaan-3 Successful Moon Landing

On August 23, 2023, India’s third lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3, successfully landed on the moon’s surface. The vehicle landed on the southern polar region of the moon. The far side of the moon or the southern polar region is the area of the moon which is always hidden from our view.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched Chandrayaan-3 on July 14, 2023, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre located at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. On August 5, 2023, Chandrayaan-3 had successfully entered the moon’s orbit.

With the historic moon landing of Chandrayaan-3, India became the first country to make a successful landing on the southern pole of the moon. The south lunar pole is covered in big and heavy rocks. This makes the area one of the hardest places to land a lunar mission. Despite this, Chandrayaan-3 was successful in achieving a soft landing. Hence, its accomplishment is worthy of praise.

Several prominent personalities have taken to social media to express their excitement and congratulate ISRO. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed this achievement as not just India’s but the entire mankind’s.
