Children’s Day 2023

 Children’s Day 2023

Every year on 14th November, we celebrate Children’s Day in India. This day marks the birth anniversary of the first Indian prime minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who was very fond of children and believed them to be the future of the country.

Pandit Nehru advocated for the educational rights of children and was fondly called “Chacha Nehru” by them. He founded the Children’s Film Society India to represent the children of India in 1955. ‘Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow,’ he said.

Pandit Nehru’s birth anniversary has been celebrated in India since its Independence, however, it was first celebrated as Children’s Day in 1954. The theme of the 2023 Children’s Day is ‘For every child, every right,’ which aims to ensure that every child in India receives the rights they deserve in the sectors of food, education, sanitation, etc.

Many schools organise cultural events to celebrate this day. Children’s Day in India reminds us to protect the innocence of kids and to celebrate their potential. It highlights the importance of ensuring a safe and healthy childhood, including education, nutrition, and a secure environment.
