Coronation of King Charles III

Coronation of King Charles III

Charles the III will officially be crowned king on May 6 in the United Kingdom. Charles had already become king when Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8 2022. Two days later, he was officially proclaimed Britain’s monarch in a ceremony on television for the first time. Although there was no need to hold a ceremony, the British royal family are looking forward to doing so to uphold the religious sentiments associated with the formal coronation of the king. The coronation would also act as a confirmation of Charles’ role as head of state and the titular head of the Church of England.

The coronation ceremony which is to be held on Saturday will be the first time Britain has crowned a monarch in 70 years. The ceremony will be held at Westminster Abbey. King Charles and his wife Camilla will be seen arriving at the place in a coach pulled by horses. The event will be attended by 2000 guests, including influential people such as world leaders and royal family members from other countries.
