English Language Day 2024

Every year on 23 April, we celebrate English Language Day. It is a special day that shows us how important the English language is. It is also known as World English Day.  This day celebrates the different languages in the world. 

On 23 April, a very famous author named William Shakespeare was born. So, English Language Day also celebrates his birthday. Sadly, he passed away on the same day in 1616. Did you know that Shakespeare introduced over 1700 words in the English language? 

In 2010, the United Nations came up with the idea to celebrate all six of its official languages. One of those language is English. It is one of the most common languages in the world. 

This day tries to unite people from different places through a common language. It also inspires people to learn more than one language so that they can get to know more about other cultures.
