First Live Stream From Mars

First Live Stream From Mars

Mars Express celebrated its 20th birth anniversary on June 2. To commemorate this event, the European Space Agency (ESA) set up a live stream directly from Mars, where different pictures sent by the spacecraft were displayed every 50 seconds. This was the first time we witnessed a live stream from Mars.

Mars Express was Europe’s first spacecraft which was sent to Mars on June 2, 2003. It was launched by the European Space Agency and reached the orbit of Mars on December 25, 2003. The European Space Agency has a list of aims that the Mars Express have been working towards reaching. Some of the objectives of Mars Express are to collect pictures of the entire surface of the planet, understanding how the surface is impacted by the atmosphere and mapping the composition of the surface and the atmosphere of the planet.
