The Global Hunger Index is a tool that measures and tracks hunger globally as well as by region and by country, prepared by European NGOs of Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe. The GHI is calculated annually, and its results appear in a report issued in October each year.
India’s position drops on Global Hunger Index 2022 dropped to 107th position out of 123 countries from the earlier ranking of 101, the 2022 Global Hunger Index report shows. In 2021, India ranked 101 out of 116 countries, and in 2020, the country use to rank at 94th position among 107 nations. A country’s GHI score is calculated by averaging the percentage of the population that is undernourished, the percentage of children younger than five years of age who are underweight, and the percentage of children who die before the age of five.
