Holi 2024

Holi 2024

Holi, also known as Vasant Utsav, is the beloved Hindu festival of colour. It is a revered occasion where people across India come together to get coloured in the shades of happiness and joy. It is celebrated in the Hindu month of Phalgun every year. This year, we are celebrating Holi on 25th March.

Holi is a celebration of the victory of good over evil. There are multiple mythological stories behind the origin of Holi. According to one, Lord Krishna playfully applied colours on Radha’s face, which started this celebration of colours. Before the main celebration of Holi, people celebrate ‘choti Holi,’ where people burn a bonfire of demoness Holika to symbolise the end of evil.

Holi also marks the beginning of the spring season in India. It celebrates the blossoming of new life. In different parts of India, Holi is played with unique traditions. In Uttar Pradesh, people take part in Lathmar Holi, where women playfully hit men with sticks called ‘lathis.’ In Vrindavan, people celebrate Phool Wali Holi using flowers instead of synthetic colours.

Holi is a day of celebration, where people gather together to participate in the joy of colours and festivities.

From Nutshell, we wish you and your loved ones a very happy Holi!
