India becomes the first team to secure a spot in the Semi-finals

After defeating Sri Lanka by 302 runs, India becomes the first team to secure a spot in the 2023 Cricket World Cup’s semi-finals. India is the only undefeated team in the tournament so far and is currently on top of the points table with 14 points from 7 matches.

India Vs Sri Lanka match took place on 2nd November in the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Batting first, India scored 357 points, with Virat Kohli scoring 98. Also, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill put forward a wonderful performance scoring 82 and 92 points respectively. 

Mohammad Siraj took the first three wickets in the first seven balls. Mohammad Shammi became the Man of the Match after taking five wickets. He became the leading wicket-taker among Indians in the 50-over World Cup. Within the 19th over, Sri Lanka was bowled out with a score of 55. 

With such a brilliant performance by the men in blue, India will be playing in the World Cup Semifinals on November 15. The Sri Lankan cricket team still has a chance to make it to the semi-finals if they win their next two matches. Before the semifinals, India will play against South Africa on 5 November.
