India Celebrates 40th Anniversary of 1983 World Cup Triumph

40 years ago, on this day, India won the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Famous Indian cricketers like VVS Laxman and Virendra Sehwag took to social media to express their gratitude towards the legendary cricket players of the 1983 World Cup. 

The 1983 World Cup final was played between India and West Indies. Kapil Dev was the captain of the Indian cricket team. The West Indies team was led by Clive Lloyd. The match was played at the Lord’s Stadium in London. One of the most iconic moments from the 1983 World Cup win was Kapil Dev’s catch to dismiss Viv Richards. The bowler was Madan Lal. India won the World Cup against West Indies by 43 runs.
