India Celebrates 75th Republic Day

Yesterday, on 26th January 2024, people from across the country celebrated the 75th Republic Day of India. A cultural event was organized in the capital city of India, New Delhi. The chief guest at the event was Emmanuel Macron, the President of France. This year, the theme was “India- Mother of Democracy”, or “Loktatantra ki Matruka” in Hindi.

The event started with Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying tributes to the brave martyrs of India at the National War Memorial. Following that, President Draupadi Murmu unfurled the national flag at the Kartavya path, accompanied by the National Anthem playing and the 21 Gun Salute presented to the President. The 2024 Republic Day parade began with an ‘Aavaahan’ ceremony where 112 female artists played various musical instruments from different parts of India.

The different regiments of the Indian army were present in the Republic Day Parade. Sixteen Indian states and Union territories showcased their tableaus, with important organizations like ISRO and DRDO highlighting recent successes such as the Chandrayaan-III mission. 

Exhibiting the prowess of ‘Nari Shakti’, 265 women on motorcycles performed various stunts to showcase bravery and determination. For the first time, a contingent of women soldiers from the tri-services – Army, Navy and Air Force marched down the Kartavya Path.

The 75th Republic Day of India saw various cultural events taking place in different parts of the country. The celebration in New Delhi showcased the richness of the country’s culture and its growing strength.
