India Joins Artemis  Accords

India is now part of the Artemis Accords. The Artemis Accords is an arrangement between the United States and other countries of the world. According to this arrangement, the countries who have signed the Artemis Accords will have to offer the necessary assistance required during their outer space missions to the Moon and Mars.

Indian Ambassador Taranjit Sandhu signed the Artemis Accords on June 21, 2023, at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel in Washington. India became the 27th country to join the Artemis Accords. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will be working together to launch a space mission to the International Space Station in 2024.

The Artemis Accords was established by NASA, in association with the US Department of State, in 2020. Seven nations came together to launch the Artemis Records.
