India Joins Artemis Accords

India is now part of the Artemis Accords. The Artemis Accords is an arrangement between the United States and other countries of the world. According to this arrangement, the countries who have signed the Artemis Accords will have to offer the necessary assistance required during their outer space missions to the Moon and Mars.

Indian Ambassador Taranjit Sandhu signed the Artemis Accords on June 21, 2023, at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel in Washington. Several important figures of the US were present during this event, such as the ISRO Space Counsellor Krunal Joshi, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson, Deputy Assistant Secretary for India Nancy Jackson and the US Department of State, 

The Artemis Accords was established by NASA, in association with the US Department of State, in 2020. Seven nations came together to launch the Artemis Records. India became the 27th country to join the Artemis Accords. NASA and ISRO will be working together to launch a space mission to the International Space Station in 2024.
