India vs South Africa, World Cup 2023 

The Indian cricket team secured their eighth win in the 2023 World Cup, defeating South Africa by 243 runs. The match took place on 5th November in the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The match saw the historical 49th ODI century scored by Virat Kohli on his 35th birthday. 

With his 49th century, Virat Kohli has the same number of ODI centuries as the legendary cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar.  Also, Kohli became the second batter, after Tendulkar to score 6000 runs in ODIs in India and the third-highest run-scorer in World Cup history.

On the other hand, the South African team scored their lowest World Cup total. However, Quinton De Kock became the fourth South African batter to score 1000 plus runs in his World Cup career. With Ravindra Jadeja’s outstanding five-wicket haul and great performance by other Indian bowlers, the South African team was all out with 83 points. 

In their next match, the Indian cricket team will face the 2001 World Champions, the Netherlands. The Match will occur in the M.Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on the 12th of November.
