India Wins Intercontinental Cup Final 2023

The Intercontinental Cup or the Hero Intercontinental Cup is a football tournament in which four nations participate. It was organized for the first time by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) in 2018. The tournament was established as a replacement for the Nehru Cup, which was played on and off from 1982 to 2017. 

The 2023 Hero Intercontinental Cup was held from June 9 to 18 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. This was the 3rd edition of the tournament. Lebanon, Vanuatu, Mongolia and India were the four nations that participated in the Intercontinental Cup 2023. While India, Lebanon and Mongolia are a part of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Vanuatu comes from the Oceanic Football Confederation (OFC). 

After a series of exciting matches, the two teams to advance to the finals were India and Lebanon. The finals were played on June 18. During this match, India emerged victorious with a score of 2-0. Sunil Chettri and Lallianzuala Chhangte were the two footballers to score the winning goals. This victory marked India as the champions of the Intercontinental Cup 2023.
