India Wins the Badminton Asia Teams Champions Title 

On 18th February 2024, India won the Badminton Asia Team Championship for the first time. It is a badminton tournament that is played between Asian countries. The championship took place in Malaysia. 

India defeated Thailand with a score of 3-2. PV Sindhu won the first match. Before this match, Sindhu was on a break to recover from an injury. Gayatri Gopichand and Treesha Jolly won the second round; however, the opposite team won the next two rounds. The 16-year-old Anmol Kharb won the fifth match, making India the champions of the tournament.

PM Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian women’s badminton team on social media platform X. This is a huge achievement for India as it is the first time that India won this championship.
