Indian Army to Set  up Girls Sports Company

The Indian Army will soon open a Girls Sports Company (GSC), similar to the Boys Sports Company (BSC) which was established in 2005 by the Army Sports Institute (ASI).

The Girls Sports Company will focus on young athletes having potential. The ASI has already started training some of these young talents, and will start to recruit them soon. A total of 120 women athletes will be introduced in the company in 4 years. They will be trained to participate in international tournaments and the Olympics. For athletes in the age range of 10 to 16, recruiting will happen for 4 games, which are athletics, boxing, weightlifting and wrestling.
