Indian Artists Win Grammy Awards

On February 4th, the 66th Grammy Awards were held in Los Angeles, USA. The Grammy Award Ceremony is an annual ceremony where talented musicians from around the world are honoured for their work. Talented Indian musicians, Shankar Mahadevan and Tabla player Zakir Hussain, made India proud by winning a Grammy in the Best Global Music Album category. They are part of a fusion band called Shakti which released the Grammy-winning album “This Moment,” in June 2023. 

Zakir Hussain also won another Grammy for Best Global Music Performance for the song “Pashto.” Rakesh Chaurasia, a great Indian flute player, won two Grammy awards on the same night. It was a big night for these musical legends of India.

In the 66th Grammy Awards, famous artists from around the world were awarded with this honourable award. First started in the year 1959, the Grammys are named after the musical instrument Gramophone which had major impacts on the music industry.
