Indian Athletes at the 2023 Para-Asian Games 

In the fourth Para-Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, Indian athletes are creating world records and winning medals with outstanding performances. India is currently in the 6th position with 71 medals including 17 gold, 21 silver and 33 bronze medals. 

Athlete Sumit Antil created a new world record in the men’s javelin throw F64 event by throwing the javelin to a distance of 73.29m. 25-year-old Antil broke his own previous world record of 70.83m which he had made while winning gold at the World Para Athletics Championships in Paris earlier this year.

Sundar Singh broke another World Record with a 68.60m throw in the Men’s Javelin Throw-F46 final as he won gold. Ankur Dhama became the first Indian to win two gold medals in a single edition of the Asian Para Games as he secured the top spot in the men’s race. 

In para table tennis, Bhavina Patel won a bronze in women’s singles. India won three medals in para archery – two silver and a bronze. In para powerlifting, Zainab Khatun and Rajkumari won a silver and a bronze respectively in the women’s 61 kg category.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Badminton player Manisha Ramadas for winning the bronze in badminton women’s single today via a tweet. With the Fourth Para-Asian Games ending on 28th October, Indian athletes are giving their best to bring honour to our country.
