Indian Coast Guard Day 2024

Every year on February 1, Indian Coast Guard Day (ICG) is observed in India. This day honours the brave men and women who protect the area of our country where the land meets the sea. The Coast Guard is a part of the military. 

The Indian Coast Guard was established on February 1, 1977. On August 18, 1987, the Indian government declared February 1st the Indian Coast Guard Day. This year, the Indian Coast Guard is celebrating its 48th year of establishment. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media site X to wish the Indian Coast Guard. He defined the Coast Guard as an outstanding team of professionals who fight for the safety of our country. 

The Indian Coast Guard is the fourth-largest coast guard in the world. This day is celebrated with a parade, various sporting events, cultural performances, and community service projects.
