Indian Duo Wins 2024 French Open Title

Indian badminton duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the French Open title of 2024 in the men’s double category. It is their first win in the year 2024. Earlier in 2022, the esteemed duo also secured the same title. It is their second French Open title and the seventh world tour title. 

The French Open is an annual Badminton tournament held in France since 1909 and hosted by the Fédération Française de Badminton. The 2024 French Open took place in the Adidas Arena in Paris from 5th to 10th March.

In the final match, the Indian badminton duo played against Lee Jhe-Huei and Yang Po-Hsuan from Chinese Taipei. The Indian duo won the first round within the first fifteen seconds. They scored 21 points while the opponents scored 11. In the second round, the opponents had a better start, however, Rankireddy and Shetty won again by scoring 21 against 17. It led to them winning the 2024 French Open men’s doubles title. 

In 2024, previously Rankireddy and Shetty reached the final level of two other tournaments- Malaysia Super 1000 and India Super 750. However, they were unable to win those two title. The Indian badminton duo had their lucky break at the French Open tournament, where they secured their first win of 2024.
