The Indian men’s and women’s table tennis teams have qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics, which will take place from June to August this year. This is the first time India has qualified in the team table tennis event of the Olympics.

The qualifying round for the ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation) World Table Tennis Team Championships took place in Busan, South Korea, on 21st February. However, both Indian teams were unable to win their respective matches. The official list will be released in March, however, as per calculations, both teams are on board for the Paris Olympics.

The captain of the Indian men’s team is 41-year-old Sharath Kamal, who has been the National Champion ten times. He expressed his joy on the teams qualifying for such an important event. He said, “To be playing in a team event at the Olympics would be a dream come true.”

In total, sixteen table tennis teams will qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Qualifying for the Olympics will also secure two guaranteed singles entries for the next Olympics.
