India’s No.1 Ranking in Cricket

India’s No. 1 Ranking in Cricket

India currently holds the No. 1 team ranking across all three international formats of cricket: the One Day International (ODI), Test and Twenty20 Internationals. While India had already secured the top rank in the T20 and Tests, last week’s victory over Australia in Mohali, in the first of the three ODI matches brought India to the No. 1 rank in the ODI format, making India the top-ranked team in cricket across all formats.

With India making it to the top in all three leaderboards, we can say that the Indian team has demonstrated immense consistency and dedication towards the sport. This feat of achievement could not have been achieved without the hard work of our Indian players.

Although this accomplishment has made millions of cricket enthusiasts across India extremely happy, one cannot help but notice how long it has been since India brought home the prestigious ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup trophy. What could ever be better than making it to the top spot in the biggest cricketing championship of the world?

India’s first World Cup victory was in 1983, under the leadership of Kapil Dev. In 2011, India won the Championships for the second time under the captainship of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. With the 13th edition of the Cricket World Cup happening this year, let us hope that India wins the champions title and makes us prouder.
