India’s Progress at the 19th Asian Games So Far
The 19th Asian Games began on September 23, 2023, with a bang! The grand opening ceremony held at the Hangzhou Sports Park Stadium in Hangzhou, China, took everyone by surprise and became the talk of the town.
The championships have a total of 40 different sporting events which expand to 61 disciplines. The disciples have been divided into four groups:
- Competitive Sports (24)
- Ball Sports (18)
- Water Sports (10)
- Adversary Sports (9)
So far, India has won 32 medals out of which 8 are gold and 12 each in silver and bronze.
The events in which India won gold and the athletes who achieved this remarkable feat are mentioned below:
- Shooting 10m Men’s Air Pistol Team- Sarabjot Singh, Shiva Narwal and Arjun Cheema
- Shooting 10m Men’s Air Rifle Team – Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Rudrankkash Balasaheb Patil, Divyansh Singh Panwar
- Shooting 50m Men’s Rifle 3 Positions- Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Akhil Sheoran, Suresh Swapnil Kusale
- Shooting 10m Women’s Air Pistol- Palak Gulia
- Shooting 50m Women’s Rifle 3 Position- Sift Kaur Samra
- Shooting 25m Women’s Pistol Team- Esha Singh
- Equestrian Dressage Team- Divyakriti Singh, Sudipti Hajela, Hriday Vipul Chheda, Anush Agarwalla
- Women’s Cricket Team
