International Children’s Book Day 2024

International Children’s Book Day 2024

Every year on 2nd April, We celebrate International Children’s Book Day. This day shows us how important it is to read books. It also celebrates all the fun books that have inspired young kids like you to take up reading as a hobby!

International Children’s Book Day was started by the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) in 1967. It is celebrated on the birthday of Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. He wrote many classic tales such as The Little Mermaid and The Ugly Duckling.

In 2024, the part of IBBY which is in Japan is celebrating this day. It has chosen the theme “Cross the Seas on the Wing of your Imagination”.

Today, multiple events are organised around the world to celebrate this day. Books present a place for kids where their creativity can shine. It not only teaches them new things, but it also motivates them to see the world more brightly.
