International Day for Human Space Flight

International Day for Human Space Flight

Humans have always been fascinated with space, so much that as of March 2023, we have made a total of 368 human space flight launches! Every year since 2011, we celebrate the International Day for Human Space Flight on April 12, to honor our special relationship with space.

This day marks the first space flight ever made in history. In 1961, Yuri Gargarin, a great Soviet cosmonaut, became the first person to orbit the Earth. What makes this event so memorable is the increased interest and enthusiasm to learn about space among the general public that followed after.

62 years have passed since the first human space flight launch. Since then we have made remarkable progress in the field of cosmology, but the significance of the first space flight launch remains the same.
