International Day of Education 2024

Every 24th January, we celebrate International Day of Education around the world to show the importance of education in creating a peaceful society. With the rise of hatred and discrimination among the people of the world, it is important to provide proper education to all to help them understand the need for equality and harmony. 

On 3rd December 2018, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declared 24th January as the International Day of Education to celebrate the role of education in peace and development. According to Article 26 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), “Everyone has the right to education”. However, there are around 258 million children and youth who do not attend school. International Literacy Day highlights the importance of providing equal education to every child in the world to end illiteracy. 

In 2024, the theme of the International Day of Education is “learning for lasting peace”. An education system that teaches equality and peace will create a society which is accepting of one another. In conclusion, the International Day of Education highlights the vital role of education in promoting peace and unity.
