International Day of Girl Child

The International Day of the Girl is celebrated on October 11 each year to point out the importance of girls’ education and their rights. In 2011, the United Nations General Assembly declared October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child and it was first celebrated in 2012. 

The main goal of this day is to point out that girls have the right to a safe, educated, and healthy life at every stage of their lives. 

The theme of International Day of the Girl 2023 is “Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being.” This theme brings out the need to invest in girls’ education and health, understanding that their leadership and well-being are necessary for a better and more equal future.
