International Day of Happiness

International Day of Happiness

Every year on 20th March, International Day of Happiness is celebrated around the world to raise awareness about the importance of happiness and well-being among people. Happiness has been recognised as a fundamental human right by the United Nations (UN). On 28th June 2012, the UN declared 20th March the International Day of Happiness. Since 2013, this day has been celebrated to remind everyone of the need to stay happy and healthy.

When it comes to growth for a country, Bhutan first introduced the idea of measuring the happiness of its citizens. Bhutan took the initiative to recognise the International Day of Happiness.

The theme for this year is ‘Reconnecting for Happiness: Building Resilient Communities’. The theme highlights the importance of building connections and a strong sense of community among people.

The International Day of Happiness has been celebrated worldwide through various events, campaigns, and initiatives aimed at promoting happiness, well-being, and positive mental health.
