International Day of Neutrality 2023

International Day of Neutrality 2023

Every year on December 12th, we celebrate a special day called the International Day of Neutrality. Now, What is neutrality? It means not picking a side when two things are in disagreement.

The United Nations is a group of countries working together to secure peace around the world. It says that neutrality is when a country doesn’t take sides in a disagreement between two other nations. Let us take an example. Imagine there is a war between Country A and Country B. Country C decides to stay neutral by not choosing a side.

The country of Turkmenistan had this excellent idea of celebrating this day. The idea was approved on February 2nd, 2017.

Some of the countries that follow neutrality are Sweden, Switzerland and Iceland. While India is not always a neutral country, it chooses to stay away from global problems. It does not take sides between the countries in disagreement.

This day shows the importance of peaceful relations between countries. By staying neutral, a country helps the opposing countries to solve their problems peacefully. Neutrality is important because it helps keep the world a happy and peaceful place.
