International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is a global celebration held annually on March 8th to honour women’s achievements, contributions, and progress worldwide. It is a day to recognise the importance of gender equality and to raise awareness about the challenges that women face in various aspects of life. This year, the theme is “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.”

The history of International Women’s Day dates back to the early 1900s when women in the United States and several European countries began advocating for their rights, demanding better working conditions, and fighting for the right to vote. Women’s Day was first unofficially celebrated in 1911. The United Nations announced March 8th as the International Women’s Day in 1975.

To celebrate this day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to the social media platform X to announce that there will be a reduction of Rs 100 from LPG gas cylinders. This decision aims to help millions of households in India.

The significance of International Women’s Day goes beyond a single day of celebration. It serves as a reminder that gender equality is essential for a just and prosperous society. The day encourages individuals and communities to take action, creating an environment where women can thrive and reach their full potential.
