James Anderson Becomes First Fast Bowler to Take 700 Wickets in Test Cricket History

James Anderson, the 41-year-old English fast bowler, achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first fast bowler in the history of Test cricket to claim 700 wickets. He achieved this feat during the fifth Test match against India in Dharamsala. Anderson reached the milestone by taking the wicket of Indian cricketer Kuldeep Yadav.

Anderson has become a part of the elite 700 Test wickets club, with only Sri Lankan cricketer Muthiah Muralidaran (800) and Australian cricketer Shane Warne (708) ahead of him in the all-time list. He is the third bowler overall and the only fast bowler to achieve this remarkable feat.

Anderson began his Test career in May 2003 against Zimbabwe at Lord’s and is currently playing his 187th Test match. The wicket of Kuldeep was Anderson’s 149th wicket against India. Of his 700 wickets, 434 were taken on home soil, while 266 were achieved overseas, including 92 in Asia.

This achievement makes Anderson the oldest bowler to join the exclusive 700 wickets club, with Muralitharan and Warne achieving the milestone before turning 40. James Anderson’s 700 Test wickets make him a cricketing legend, highlighting his skill and lasting impact on the game.
