Jasprit Bumrah Ranked No.1 Test Bowler

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah made history by becoming the number one Test bowler in the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings. He was in the fourth position before this achievement, and now he’s the first Indian to reach the top spot. The third position in this list is held by another Indian cricketer- Ravichandran Ashwin.

Before Bumrah, the highest rank held by an Indian cricketer was the second position, secured by Kapil Dev from December 1979 to February 1980.

Bumrah’s climb to the top came after an outstanding performance in the second Test against England. In the first match that took place in Hyderabad, he took six wickets, however India lost by 28 runs. In the second test match that took place in Visakhapatnam, he took six wickets in the first innings and three in the second. He was named the player of the second match.

In the series against England, Bumrah is the leading wicket-taker with a total of fifteen wickets. Impressively, he is also the fastest Indian bowler to reach 150 Test wickets.
