Jupiter comes closest to the Earth.

Jupiter came closest to Earth on 27th September, in an extremely rare occurrence, in almost 60 years. Jupiter is approximately 600 million miles away from Earth at its farthest point. It will come as near as 367 million miles today making it an unmissable event for all. Jupiter reaches closest to Earth, a timing known as being in opposition. It’s the one time of the year a perfectly straight line can be drawn from the Sun to Earth to Jupiter. Jupiter will be 59,06,29,248 kilometers away from us, and the next time this planet comes this close to the Earth will be 107 years later in 2129. The planet, which takes over 11 years to complete one revolution around the sun, will be exactly opposite to the sun in its orbit and this unique arrangement makes it one of the brightest objects in the sky as seen from the earth.
