Kisan Diwas 2023

Kisan Diwas 2023

On December 23rd every year, we celebrate Kisan Diwas in India to pay tribute to hard-working farmers of our country. This day, also known as National Farmer’s Day marks the birth anniversary of the fifth Prime Minister of India, Chaudhury Charan Singh.

On 23 December 1902, Chaudhury Charan Singh was born in Uttar Pradesh. As the Prime Minister of India from 1979 to 1980, Chaudhury Charan Singh took many steps to improve the lives of farmers across the country. He worked to ensure the rights of the farmers.

In 2001, the Government of India declared 23rd December as the National Farmer’s Day to honour all the work done by Chaudhury Charan Singh.

Kisan Diwas holds great importance in India as it presents us with a special day when we all can come together to show our thankfulness to the hardworking farmers of our country. Farmers are the backbone of our country, and this day provides a platform for them to voice their needs. Several campaigns are organised on this day to highlight the contributions made by farmers to India’s growth.
