Message in a Bottle: Send your Name to Jupiter’s Moon

Message in a Bottle: Send your Name to Jupiter’s Moon

The National Aeronautics and Space Organisation (NASA) is inviting people to send their names to Jupiter’s Moon name Europa. The Europa Clipper Spacecraft is scheduled to launch next year in 2024. It will study the icy moon of Jupiter named Europa to learn if it can sustain life. NASA has presented us with an out-of-the-world experience, where we can send our or our loved ones’ names to be engraved in a chip that will be aboard in the space mission.

This campaign is named “Message in a Bottle”. Approximately 22 lakh names have been added to the list since July. People can submit names through a form on the NASA website till 31st December. After that, the names will be written on a coin-sized microchip. The lines will be 1/1000th of a human hair’s size. The chip will then be attached to a metal plate with the poem “In Praise of Mistery” written by poet Ada Limon.

Europa has a vast ocean of liquid under its icy shell, which scientist believes can sustain alien life. The main goal of the Europa Clipper spacecraft is to determine whether the moon could support life. The exploration will help scientists understand the possibility of life beyond our planet, Earth.

You can submit your name by going to the following website:
