Millions of Olive Ridley Turtles Trail Along Odisha’s Rushikulya Beach

Millions of baby Olive Ridley Turtles were seen crawling at the Rushikulya Beach in Odisha. These baby turtles had just hatched from their eggs and were travelling towards the Bay of Bengal. This year more than 6 lakh turtles had laid eggs at the Rushikulya beach. This was the highest number of turtles recorded for mass nesting in a very long time. 

After laying their eggs in the sand, the turtles went back into the sea. About 50 days later, when the baby turtles emerged from the eggs, they started their journey by crawling towards the sea.
