Mumbai Wins Ranji Trophy After Eight Years

On 14th March 2024, the cricket team of Mumbai won the Ranji Trophy. They played against the Vidarbha team from Maharashtra. The final match took place in the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In the match, the Mumbai team won against the Vidarbha Team with 169 runs. 

The Ranji Trophy is a popular cricket tournament that takes place every year. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) organises this tournament. Teams from different states and regions of India participate in this. 

It was started in 1935, and out of all the tournaments, Mumbai has won the title 42 times. The 2024 tournament was very special as the Mumbai team was able to win the Ranji Trophy after eight years. 

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) decided to double the prize money after this magnificent win of Mumbai. With the winning money of Rs 5 crores from the BCCI, MCA also decided to award the team Rs 5 crores.
