Narendra Modi Receives Papua New Guinea, Fiji’s Highest Civilian Honour

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently been conferred with the highest civilian honour of Papua New Guinea and Fiji. This recognition can be termed rare as Narendra Modi is a non resident of the Pacific island nations. Very few non-residential personalities have received this award including Bill Clinton, the former president of the United States.

The highest honour was awarded to Narendra Modi by the Governor General of Papua New Guinea, Sir Bob Dadae, at a ceremony hosted at the Government House. The honour is called the “Grand Companion of the Order of Logohu (GCL)”. The recipients of this award are referred to as “Chief”. The honour was presented to him for his promoting friendly relations between India and the Pacific island countries. Narendra Modi was a part of an important summit hosted in Papua New Guinea to promote the bilateral connection between India and the 14 Pacific island countries.
